What Is This Personality Questionnaire Based On?

Our questionnaire is based on a combination of Carl Jung’s and Isabel Briggs-Myers theories on psychological type. As an MBTI® practitioner I’ve seen how many people get inaccurate results from online tests. And while I think the best possible way to type yourself is through getting a certified consultation with an MBTI® practitioner, this is an alternative free option to get you pointed in the right direction.

To make this questionnaire as accurate as I could I combined questions about the dichotomies (I/E, S/N, T/F, J/P) with questions related to Carl Jung’s cognitive functions (Te/Fe, Ti/Fi, Se/Si, Ne/Ni).

Is This Questionnaire 100% Accurate?

Unfortunately, there is no perfect questionnaire. If you answer a questionnaire while you’re feeling social and happy you might get a different result than if you answer when you’re feeling worn out and reclusive. That’s why it’s very important to answer the questions based on how you are in your average, most stable state of mind.

Tips for Getting the Most Accurate Result:

  • Remember that you might modify your personality at work or as a parent. If you answer based only on those versions of yourself your answers might not match your true personality. Try to answer based on your most natural state of mind.
  • Don’t answer based on how you want to be – answer based on your most natural tendencies.
  • Don’t take the test when you’re highly stressed. The results might be skewed because your personality can be altered during states of stress.
  • Remember to scroll down on each question to be sure you’re not missing any options.
  • Try to take the test alone or with one person who knows you very well. Being around a lot of people can alter your focus and give you mixed opinions on which selection is more “You.”
  • Remember that you can’t fail this test. There are no wrong answers!

Why You Might Get a Different Result Than You’re Expecting:

Don’t worry! There are a lot of really inaccurate online tests out there. As an MBTI® practitioner I’ve noticed an uptick in mistyped people since the emergence of many of the more popular free online tests.

Below are the most frequent mistypes I’ve seen for each personality type:

– ISFPs often mistype as INFJs, INFPs, or even INTJs
– ISFJs often mistype as INFPs or INFJs
– ISTPs often mistype as INTJs, INTPs, or ISTJs
– ISTJs often mistype as INTJs
– ESFPs often mistype as ENFPs
– ESTPs often mistype as ENTJs or ISTPs
– ESFJs often mistype as ENFJs
– ESTJs often mistype as ENTJs or INTJs
– INFPs often mistype as INFJs
– INTPs often mistype as INTJs
– INFJs often mistype as INFPs or INTPs
– INTJs often mistype as INTPs or ENTJs
– ENFPs often mistype as INFPs
– ENTPs often mistype as ENTJs or INTPs
– ENFJs often mistype as INFJs
– ENTJs often mistype as ESTJs

So if you get a result that doesn’t resonate you, check back with this list to see if there’s a possible alternative that would suit you better.

  1. Hi Susan,

You did a great job of creating a test that is simple and covers the basics. My result is accurate, but I like that you’ve included a list of common mistypes above for added clarity.

Thanks for sharing this test for free too!

  2. I’m still a INFJ a mystic . The test made me think more than the Meyers and Briggs test. I wanted to check more than one answer.

  3. I think you have ESFJ listed as both the “Defender” and the “Champion” . I’m guessing “The Champion” is meant to be ENFJ? I’ve had my class take it and that is how I noticed this. Thank you!

  4. Hello, i got intp in this test and i had tried other tests for few times but i’m still doubting that if I’m an intp or just a fake one. When i consider myself ‘fake’ , the results of more-than-20-times-different-version test remind me that I’m a real one. When i consider myself real, i simply think about the characteristics of intp and i found that they don’t really 90% match my personality. Would you mind to give me some advices , please? Thank you.

  5. INTP is cool and seem cool. But I was during several years in what that the MBTI call: protective services. It’s an exciting world. And according to the official website, it is a statistical characteristic peculiar to INTJ among the intuitive. In reality, I’m sure I can improve the test in order to make it close to perfection. I see all the flaws. It’s a little pretentious. But when I’ll finish my current conceptual plan, I will work about this it if it’s financially profitable. That said, I am aware that I still have a lot to learn. I know the MBTI for only 2-3 years.

Jung was an exceptionally-gifted INFJ. Those who say the opposite are wrong and rely on stereotyped data. So the idea is simply to improve his timeless concept and not to invent another.

  6. I have Borderline Personality Disorder and I had a hard time understanding it and myself even with therapy but now after taking the quiz and knowing my type I have a better understanding of everything. Every email is so spot on, it is unreal. I love this website.

  7. Hello ! Thanks for the time you’ve spent on this blog ..
I have ALWAYS typed as infj… And it deeply resonates but I consistently feel like I resonate with other types (specifically intj, isfp sometimes infp until I meet one..haha)
I have a firm understanding of the cognitive functions, and when doing cog tests specifically (Jung) I have a high Ni, Ne, Ti, Se and Fe. ….while the others are low scoring.
I come from a traumatic background and have always wondered if that has colored the way I developed, my Se is very strong…and no I’m not in a stressed state at all, but having to be hyper aware of my environment in my developmental years could potentially develop strong Se …anyways, I’ve been typing for 15 years and consistently receive INFJ but I always have doubt…is this something you’ve noticed with other INFJs ? The desire to find a conclusion but being too skeptical to actually fall on a solid answer? It’s interesting how ISFP can mistype as infj…and I sometimes wonder if that is my case.
    I’m rambling…
    Love and thanks !
