Disclaimer: As an MBTI® practitioner, I can’t really sit down and walk through the Myers-Briggs® questionnaire and assessment session with any of these characters. Find Out Which Anime Character  Has Your Myers-Briggs® Personality Type

ENFP – Kaori Miyazono from Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie in April)

“If you can’t move with your hands then play with your feet! If you don’t have enough fingers, then use your nose as well. Whether you’re sad, you’re a mess, or you’ve hit rock bottom, you still have to play. That’s how people like us survive.” – Kaori Miyazono

Free-spirited and innovative, Kaori Miyazono from “Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso” captures many of the strengths of the ENFP type. Her free-spirited, rule-breaking musical style infuriates judges but also captures the admiration of audiences. In typical intuitive fashion, Kaori often skips over the details or historical interpretations of a score to focus on the overall theme/personal impression she wants to give. She doesn’t let anyone push her around and has the distinct individualistic nature of the ENFP. Her creativity, emotional authenticity, and energetic warmth make her a distinctive ENFP character.

ENTP – Edward Elric, FullMetal Alchemist

Edward Elric #ENTP

“There’s no such thing as a painless lesson, they just don’t exist. Sacrifices are necessary, you can’t gain something without losing something first… Although if you can endure that pain and walk away from it, you’ll find that you now have a heart strong enough to overcome any obstacle… Yeah… A Fullmetal Heart.”Edward Elric, Fullmetal Alchemist

Rebellious and innovative, Edward Elric captures the strong-willed, perceptive nature of the ENTP. He can quickly see possibilities in any situation and shows obvious excitement when it comes to concepts, theories, challenges, and difficulties. His creative, clever nature exemplifies his use of Extraverted Intuition and Introverted Thinking. He knows how to bend the rules at precisely the right time and his sharp, irreverent sense of humor is also something that most ENTPs will relate to.

Other ENTP Anime Characters: Mei Hatsume (My Hero Academia), Lloyd Asplund (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion), Ryuk (Death Note). Okabe Rintarou (Steins;Gate), Bulma (Dragon Ball), Konata Izumi (Lucky Star), Hange Zoe (Attack on Titan).

INFP – Ken Kaneki, Tokyo Ghoul

“I’m not the protagonist of a novel or anything. I’m just a college student who likes to read, like you could find anywhere. But…if for argument’s sake, you were to write a story with me in the lead role, it would certainly be a tragedy.”Ken Kaneki, Tokyo Ghoul

Like many INFP anime characters, Ken Kaneki wants to stay true to himself. His greatest fear is losing his individuality and going against his moral code. While all personality types can relate to this to a certain extent, none can relate quite as strongly as the INFP (or ISFP). INFPs crave authenticity and personal freedom in every aspect of their lives. They never want to bend or break due to outside pressures, and this internal struggle is what burdens Ken Kaneki throughout most of Tokyo Ghoul. Gentle, shy, and altruistic, he does whatever he can to protect those close to him – even putting himself in grave danger for their sake. His soul-searching, deep nature embodies the ethereal, morally-conscious nature of the INFP.

Other INFP Anime Characters: Tamaki Amajiki (My Hero Academia), Eric Alphonse (FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), Nagato (Naruto), Crona (Soul Eater), Rakka (Haibane Renmei), Rinko Yamato (Ore Monogatari!), Shinichi Izumi (Parasyte).

INTP – L Lawliet, Death Note

It’s not a sense of justice. Figuring out difficult cases is my hobby. If you measured good and evil deeds by current laws, I would be responsible for many crimes. The same way you all like to solve mysteries and riddles, or clear video games more quickly. For me too, it’s simply prolonging something I enjoy doing. That’s why I only take on cases that pique my interest. It’s not justice at all. And if it means being able to clear a case, I don’t play fair, I’m a dishonest, cheating human being who hates losing.” L Lawliet

Highly intelligent yet often underestimated, L captures the ingenious but often messy nature of the INTP personality type. People tend to underestimate him due to his disheveled appearance and lack of tact, but his analytical abilities and strong powers of deduction are astounding. In typical INTP fashion, L has a dry, clever sense of humor and an ability to connect the dots in complex situations. He’s driven by a desire to understand and solve mysteries, and many INTPs will relate to this hunger for discovery and truth.

Other INTP Characters: Tsuyu Asui “Froppy” (My Hero Academia), Ranpo Edogawa (Bungou Stray Dogs), Shiro (No Game No Life), Ginko (Mushishi), Kusuo Saiki (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K), Pieck Finger (Attack on Titan).

ENFJ – Tanjiro Kamado, Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

“To dispel the regrets of those killed, to stop anymore victims from appearing, I will relentlessly wield my blade against the Demons, and that’s a fact. But I will not trample on the pains of being a Demon. Nor on those who regret their own actions. Because demons were humans. Because they were humans like me.” – Tanjiro Kamado

Focused and deeply compassionate, Tanjiro is one of the best examples I’ve ever seen of a truly healthy ENFJ. He is driven by his need to protect his sister, and in fact is willing to do anything, even die, to give her another chance at life. His distaste for rudeness and his empathy, even for demons, will be relatable to many ENFJs. He has a unique ability to break through the emotional walls people put up, even those of the silent and mysterious Kanao.  His foresight in battle and his commitment to his long-term vision over the discomforts of the moment show his strength of Introverted Intuition (Ni).

Other ENFJ Anime Characters: All Might (My Hero Academia), Master Roshi (Dragon Ball Z), Whitebeard (One Piece), Daichi Sawamura (Haikyuu!!), Osono (Kiki’s Delivery Service), Tsubasa Ozora (Captain Tsubasa), Toru Oikawa (Haikyuu!!)

ENTJ – Light Yagami, Death Note

“You can’t win if you’re always on the defensive. To win, you have to attack!”Light Yagami

Hard-working and strategic, Light Yagami embodies many of the strengths of the ENTJ. He has an uncanny knack for mapping out scenarios, problem-solving, and organizing every action around his main goal: A new world free from injustice and populated only by kind, honest individuals. In typical ENTJ fashion, Light breaks down information out loud, organizing logical information and strategizing as his main weapon. He’s gifted at seeing what’s going on behind the scenes in a situation and tries to anticipate the future before executing his plans. However, like most ENTJs, he can be overly impulsive and get himself into hot water as a result.

Other ENTJ Anime Characters: Yami Yugi (Yu-Gi-Oh!), Esdeath (Akame Ga Kill!), Medusa Gorgon (Soul Eater), Erwin Smith (Attack on Titan), Roy Mustang (FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood).

INFJ – Izuku Midoriya, My Hero Academia

“All men are not created equal. This was the reality I learned about society at the young age of four. And that was my first and last setback.”Izuku Midoriya

Compassionate and visionary, Izuku Midoriya embodies the empathy and single-minded focus of the INFJ. Grappling with a disappointing childhood, Midoriya does whatever it takes to reach his goal: to become a real superhero in the manner of his hero, All Might. In typical INFJ fashion, Midoriya likes to analyze and theorize a great deal – even getting stuck in analysis when he should be taking action. His inner world is overflowing with possibilities, theories, and strategies. Yet outwardly he is driven by a need to protect and defend others. In chaotic situations, his first thought is to take care of the people who are vulnerable. He does this through his Intuition, anticipating what his enemies will do and how to respond accordingly. He often has an uncanny sense of how people will respond to situations and uses a combination of Introverted Intuition and his tertiary Introverted Thinking to logically map out how situations will unfold and what the most logical solution should be.

Other INFJ Anime Characters: Rayleigh (One Piece), Future Trunks (Dragon Ball Z), Tamayo (Kimetsu no Yaiba “Demon Slayer”), Kagaya Ubuyashiki (Kimetsu no Yaiba “Demon Slayer”), Itachi Uchiha (Naruto), Armin Arlert (Attack on Titan).

INTJ – Lelouch vi Britannia, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

“What do you do when there is an evil you cannot defeat by just means? Do you stain your hands with evil to destroy evil? Or do you remain steadfastly just and righteous even if it means surrendering to evil?”Lelouch Vi Britannia

No one can equal the strategic capabilities of Lelouch vi Britannia. As Zero, Lelouch has a unique gift for anticipating his enemies’ moves and planning accordingly. He thinks far ahead into the distant future, creating long-term plans that will change the world. While on the outside he may look cold and scheming, on the inside he cares deeply about the welfare of the repressed and downtrodden. This is where his tertiary Introverted Feeling (Fi) really shows up in tandem with his Introverted Intuition (Ni). He doesn’t mind playing the bad guy if, at the end of his arduous plan, his values and beliefs are what he is ultimately defending.

Other INTJ Anime Characters: Kai Chisaki “Overhaul” (My Hero Academia), Akihiko Kayaba (Sword Art Online), Karma Akabane (Assassination Classroom), Ciel Phantomhive (Black Butler), Kyouko Kirigiri (Draganropa)

ESFP – Natsu Dragneel, Fairy Tail

“We don’t know what tomorrow holds! That’s why we can live for everything we’re worth today!”Natsu Dragneel

Carefree and adventurous, Natsu captures the impulsive yet clever responsiveness of the ESFP personality type. He lives for today, making the most of each moment and enjoying the rush of a good fight. But he’s not all brawn and no brains (or heart). Natsu is fiercely loyal and will go down fighting for his friends, even if the odds are against him. He is able to think quickly and use his surroundings to circumvent obstacles when he’s facing an opponent in a precarious situation. His humor, liveliness, and loyalty to his friends are all hallmarks of the ESFP personality type.

Other ESFP Anime Characters: Seiya Kou (Sailor Moon), Mina Ashido (My Hero Academia), Present Mike (My Hero Academia), Yuga Aoyama (My Hero Academia), Zenitsu Agatsuma (Kimetsu no Yaiba “Demon Slayer”) Kallen Kozuki (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion), Sasha Braus (Attack on Titan)

ESTP – Katsuki Bakugo, My Hero Academia

“I break…and break myself…Even if it means twisting myself, I’ll win the way I choose.”Katsuki Bakugo

Almost no anime character can match the competitive, aggressive spirit of Katsuki Bakugo. He’s a character of restless energy and nearly unbeatable tactical ability. Bakugo can think quickly in a battle, responding reflexively in ingenious ways to outsmart his opponents. In typical ESTP fashion, he commits to a challenge, using 110% of his energy to take down his enemies. While on the outside Bakugo might seem all brawn and no brains, when people see him in action they are surprised by how clever and ingenious his moves really are. He is extremely intelligent and perceptive, capable of not only strategic planning but quick improvising.

Other ESTP Anime Characters: Phinks (Hunter X Hunter), Nemuri Kayama “Midnight” (My Hero Academia), Inosuke Hashibira (Kimetsu no Yaiba “Demon Slayer”), Envy (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), Chuuya Nakahara (Bungou Stray Dogs).

ISFP – Shoto Todoroki, My Hero Academia

“If you wanna stop this, then stand up! Because I’ve got one thing to say to you! Never forget who you want to become!”Shoto Todoroki

While many people type Todoroki as INTJ, I believe this largely comes down to false stereotypes about ISFPs rather than a true understanding of what ISFPs are actually like. Todoroki is extremely swift at responding to immediate crises’ whereas an INTJ would resemble Lelouch vi Britannia more, working in the background to create strategies and long-term plans. Todoroki tailors his life to his value system; everything he does must align with what he believes is personally right. He will even go so far as to lose an important fight if it means he’s adhering to his ethics. His integrity as well as his smooth reflexes on the battlefield remind us of how powerful Introverted Feeling and Extraverted Sensation really are when they are working together.

Other ISFP Anime Characters: Chizome Akaguro “Stain” (My Hero Academia), Eren Yeager (Attack on Titan), Yuichiro Hyakuya (Seraph of the End), Haruka Nanase (Free!), Ojira Mashirao (My Hero Academia).

ISTP – Shizuo Heiwajima, Durarara!!

“It’s not that I’m busy. I just don’t want to spend more than two and a half more minutes of my life with you!” – Shizuo Heiwajima

Powerful and no-nonsense, Shizuo Heiwajima fights with incredible strength and tactical prowess. In typical ISTP fashion, he stays aware of his surroundings, even using tools in his immediate vicinity to bring down his opponents. His communication is direct and logical – he sees no point in mincing words with his enemies. He also can troubleshoot quickly in crisis situations that would make many other types confused or overwhelmed.

Other ISTP Anime Characters: Shoto Aizawa (My Hero Academia), Kyoka Jirou “Earphone Jack” (My Hero Academia), Levi Ackerman (Attack on Titan), Saitama (One Punch Man), Shinya Kogami (Psycho-Pass), Ymir (Attack on Titan).

ESFJ – Shirley Fenette, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

Ever since my memories have come back, I’ve been feeling so very afraid. A teacher who wasn’t a teacher. Friends who don’t have memories to share. Everyone… was just.. lying… It felt as though the whole world was spying on me. That’s the world you’ve been fighting for all by yourself, isn’t it? All alone. So that’s why I… why I wanted to be someone who would at least be truthful to you.” – Shirley Fenette, Code Geass

Caring, attentive, and people-oriented, Shirley Fenette captures the many strengths of the ESFJ personality type. She is always thinking of her friends and the people she loves, even if it puts her in harm’s way. She also seems to have a down-to-earth, practical outlook on life – often chiding Lelouch vi Britannia, who is much more risk-prone.  At Ashford Academy, Shirley is often checking up on people to make sure that they are alright and is highly conscious of morale and what’s the appropriate or conscientious way to behave.

Other ESFJ Anime Characters: Sakura Haruno (Naruto: Shippenden), Maka Albarn (Soul Eater), Chi Chi (Dragon Ball Z), Leorio (Hunter X Hunter), Katara (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Rose (Fullmetal Alchemist).

ESTJ – Izumi Curtis, Fullmetal Alchemist

“When people ask, I usually say I’m a housewife, but I’m feeling a bit sassy today. So I have decided to shed that particular disguise….I AM AN ALCHEMIST!” –  Izumi Curtis

Hard-working and pragmatic, Izumi Curtis captures the resourceful, driven nature of the ESTJ. She uses her immediate surroundings to her advantage in combat and wields weapons with remarkable proficiency. She knows how to take charge of chaotic situations, as evidenced when she shows up at Central and quickly takes charge of an overwhelming situation. Her practicality and strong leadership abilities are some of the greatest gifts ESTJs bring to the world.

Other ESTJ Anime Characters: Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tail), Takaya Abe (Big Windup!), Asuka Langley Sohryu (Evangelion), Sanemi Shinazugawa (Demon Slayer), Rudol Von Stroheim (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure),  Tatsumaki (One Punch Man), Cornelia li Brittania (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion).

ISFJ – Rem from ReZero

“I love it when you stroke my hair. I feel as if we can understand each other through the contact between your hand and my hair. I love your voice. Just hearing you say one word makes my heart feel warmer. I love your eyes. Normally, they look stern, but when you’re being kind to someone, I love the way they soften. I love your fingers. For a boy, you have such lovely fingers. But when you clutch me, I know they are the strong, slender fingers of a man. I love the way you walk. When we walk together, I love the way you occasionally turn, to make sure I can keep up. I love the way you look when you sleep. You look unguarded, like an infant, and your eyelashes are on the long side. When I touch your cheek, you calm down…And when I playfully touch your lips, you don’t even notice…and it makes my heart ache terribly. I love you.”Rem

Gentle and nurturing, Rem embodies the detail-oriented, loyal nature of the ISFJ. She uses her power to protect the ones she loves and care for them in tangible ways. She not only attacks, but heals, using her Water magic to defend the ones she loves. She will even die to protect those dearest to her. She proves her love through her action and behaviors, and sometimes she is too good-natured and kind for her own well-being.

Other ISFJ Anime Characters: Sophie Hatter (Howl’s Moving Castle), Mayuri Shiina (SteinsGate), Ryuji (Toradora), Krillin (Dragon Ball Z), Brock (Pokemon), Miroku (Inyuasha), Historia Reiss (Attack on Titan).

ISTJ – Tenya Iida, My Hero Academia

“Wanting to do it and being suitable for it are different issues.” – Tenya Iida

Detail-oriented and responsible, Tenya is one of my favorite characters in My Hero Academia because he always wants to do what is right. He may be a rule-follower, but he’s also willing to break the rules when it comes to protecting the legacy of the ones he loves most. He is deeply devoted as a friend and brother, and his discipline and hard-working nature make him a source of strength for his entire UA class. His detail-oriented perceptiveness enables him to notice when anything is out of synch or dangerous, and his pragmatic nature enables him to come up with strong plans of action when everyone else is panicking. His hunger for efficiency, his loyalty, and his attention to detail all make him a strong ISTJ character.

Other ISTJ Anime Charaters: Unalaq (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Tenzin (Avatar: The Legend of Korra), Boa (One Piece), Shikamaru (Naruto).

  1. A lot of these are incorrect. I wonder why people get ENFP and ESFP mixed up, we’re nothing alike!
Naruto, Natsu are ENFP’S. Listen to their ideals and what drives them. Bakugo is an ENTJ, Not an ESTP. LISTEN to his ideals not his need to fight. Tanjero is also an ENFP, not an ENFJ, does he sound like Almight or Rongeku?? No, he wants to protect someone he loves, not everyone. He isn’t seeking to be a hero just to protect his sister.
