The Period Drama Character You’d Be, Based On Your Myers-Briggs® Personality Type

Over the last few weeks I’ve been writing a lot about fictional characters and my estimations about their personality types. Today’s article is in response to several requests I’ve gotten for an article specifically dedicated to period drama characters. These characters are from dramas that take us back in time to another era in history. Whether you’re into Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, or binging Downton Abbey, I hope you’ll enjoy this article!

Now as an MBTI® practitioner, I always preface these kinds of articles with a disclaimer. I can’t sit across from any of these characters and conduct a type consultation. Watching characters in a movie or reading about them in a book can only tell us a small amount about who they are. There is a great chance for error. These articles are meant to be fun, maybe make us laugh, and give us some potential insights into personality. But you may find yourself relating to more than one character!

  1. You put two males as characters of INTJ, others have a male and female example. I’m an INTJ woman which I understand is rare as most INTJs are male, but your inability to identify a female INTJ is a little obtuse. I’ve always related to Elizabeth Bennett, personally, and elements of Claire Fraser’s personality. Her love of new experiences and independence, especially.

    1. Thanks for your input, Moira! I actually was trying to come up with two examples for each type, but wasn’t considering male and female so I didn’t realize till I was compiling the article that most had male and female examples. I’ll have to dig around some more and see if I can find some INTJ females. I know they’re in the books, I just can’t recall any off the top of my head.

      1. For an INTJ Female, perhaps you don’t have to find one in a book from any certain time period and just get, like, a mythological character? Like, let’s say Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom and War Strategy, or Nemesis or Adraesteia, Goddess of Revenge and Just Retribution… For me I would much like to see Nemesis featured somewhere, since she is surprisingly underrated despite being amazing and perhaps more noble than most of the Greek Deities. They’re both said to be INTJs… There’s also Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family, and Rowena Ravenclaw who can also ne considered an INTJ. Finding an INTJ Female in period books and dramas truly is challenging, so take your time finding a suitable one…

  2. as an intj i would like to thank u for the information provided as it would make it easier for me to do my research over other characters that i dont interact with or have around, i will gladly consider to watch the ones including my type and types am interested it as well. i was grateful enough to write a cmnt this is rare, thanks alot , gd luck with ur future articles, regards ~

  3. The article meant for people with a very good English language, very useful information and analysis,I hope it would be with more simple language like other sites to be easier for all people that take the test and answer the r
questions as they contain long sentences with idioms sometimes (pet peeve) for example.thank you

  4. I am an INTP female, and I just wanted to point out that Alice’s character (Alice in wonderland) is hard for people to relate to at all or be favorite story or character because the story is plot driven instead of character driven. On the bright side, I do like the idea of her being in a new land of imagination, but really, INTPs would imagine wonderland MUCH better. When I found out what wonderland was like, I was actually disappointed. You can learn from the story though, thinking “curiosity killed the cat.” Anyway thanks for recommending this character… even though it seems (to me) Alice is always given as the only INTP female character. (I guess I’m asking if you can find more INTP characters) thanks.
