What is Demon Slayer?

Demon Slayer is an anime and manga series that is set in early 20th century Taisho-era Japan. In this world, man-eating demons roam the land each night, devouring innocent people in order to become stronger and more powerful. One cold winter morning, 13-year-old Tanjiro Kamado returns home to find his entire family murdered except for his sister Nezuko, who has turned into a demon. Tanjiro is determined to do whatever it takes to turn Nezuko back into a human and avenge the deaths of his family. In order to do this, he sets out on a journey to train for the Demon Slayer Corps and join other skilled fighters to protect humans from demons.

Disclaimer: As much as I would like to, I can’t really sit across from Tanjiro and perform an MBTI® consultation and type clarification session. When typing fictional characters, there’s limited information to go on based on what’s shown in the series or mangas. I try to be as accurate as possible with my typings, but if you have alternate suggestions be sure to let me know in the comments!

MBTI Demon Slayer Characters

The Myers-Briggs® Types of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Characters

Genya Shinazugawa – ISFP

Genya Shinazugawa is an ISFP

“Think only about winning. I will not let my brother, or my master, or any of my comrades die.” – Genya Shinazugawa

Many people type Genya as an ESTJ, but I believe this is due to not reading the mangas and only viewing his brief appearance in the first season of Demon Slayer. Genya has a deeply traumatic past that has mentally scarred him and caused him to form a tough outer shell around his psyche. He is, above all, loyal to his cause, anxious to change the world and avenge the deaths of his siblings. While he is a skilled gunfighter, his impulsiveness and fiery emotions often land him in conflicts with other demon slayers. While people may judge him for his brash exterior, his inner soul is much kinder and more wounded than many realize.

Tanjiro Kamado – ENFJ

Tanjiro Kamado is an ENFJ

“Those who regretted their own actions. I would never trample over them. Because demons were once human too! Just like me, they were human too!” – Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro’s personality type stands out because he’s not only a feeling type, he’s also driven and knows how to be confrontational or comforting in order to help others. Selfless and driven, Tanjiro will stop at nothing to defend his sister against those who would harm her. He knows the future looks bleak and every obstacle will be in his path, but he won’t let that stop him from his vision. He believes that the “impossible” can happen – that he will be able to find a cure that will change his sister from a demon into a human again. Tanjiro’s compassion, empathy, and patience with people (and demons) make his Extraverted Feeling side evident. Every decision he makes concerns the greater good and the needs of others. His ability to see past roadblocks and fight for his vision is evidence of his powerful intuition. He’s even able to understand that demons used to be human and show respect and sorrow for even the most villainous creatures he has slain.

Zenitsu Agatsuma – ISFP

Zenitsu is an ISFP

“Don’t ever give up. Even if it’s painful, even if it’s agonizing. Don’t try to take the easy way out.” – Zenitsu Agatsuma

People seem to love or hate Zenitsu (I’m firmly in the “love” camp) because of his hyper-reactive, sometimes cowardly nature. That said, Zenitsu has a huge amount of empathy and care for others. While he is indeed fearful, it is often because he has felt so alone in life and so undervalued. Even though he’s afraid he continues to fight, holding respect for his comrades and coming to their aid unexpectedly. In an ideal world, Zenitsu would have a loving family and thus feel capable of the inner strength he’s always desired. Yet even in his real life he manages to overcome his fear in the most unexpected moments. His speed, stamina, and endurance are astonishing. Like most Sensing-Perceivers, he has tactical intelligence and an ability to point out obvious solutions that others (even Tanijro) seem to be missing.

Sakonji Urokodaki – ISTJ

Sakonji Urokodaki is an ISTJ

“This kid isn’t going to cut it. He’s too kind and can’t make decisions. He’s facing a demon, yet the scent of kindness remains. He has empathy even for a demon. He’s never going to make it.” – Sakonji Urokodaki

Urokodaki might seem stern and demanding on the outside, but on the inside he’s deeply caring and devoted. He knows that to train demon slayers he must test their limits and challenge them beyond their comfort zones. He gives no shortcuts to his students but he knows that this is essential in order for them to survive and make a difference in the world. His serious, logical demeanor and practical way of looking at life are characteristics that make ISTJs stand out.

Inosuke Hashibira – ESFP

Inosuke Hashibira is an ESTP

“We’re comrades…and like brothers. So if someone starts to stray from the path, we all stop him. No matter how hard or painful it is, we walk the right path.” – Inosuke Hashibira

If I were to look purely at appearances, it would be easy to think that Inosuke is an ESTP. He’s spontaneous, blunt, and quick to act. That said, when one looks closer at his motivations and convictions (particularly in the mangas) it’s easy to see more Introverted Feeling and Extraverted Thinking than Introverted Thinking and Extraverted Feeling (what you’d find with an ESTP). Inosuke has a fiery personality and, at the beginning of the series, is ready to pick a fight with just about anyone. This is to be expected since he was literally raised in the wild. Rather than the more detached, logical approach of the ESTP, Inosuke acts on his feelings, determined to live up to his internal views of himself as the strongest and best demon slayer of all. Fearless and strong, he’ll do anything to prove himself to others – even when it hurts. For Inosuke, the goal is to be recognized for his individual skills and abilities while simultaneously fighting the demons who killed his mother.

Muzan Kibutsuji – ENTJ

Muzan is an ENTJ

“Tanjiro Kamado… You will conquer the sunlight and become the strongest demon—the king of demons!”

Muzan Kibutsuji, the king of demons himself, is the quintessential ENTJ: ruthless, strategic, and driven by a singular vision of perfection. Muzan’s entire existence revolves around power and control. His dominant Extraverted Thinking (Te) makes him a master planner, manipulating events and people to align with his grand designs. Every action is calculated, every move designed to bring him closer to becoming the ultimate being—immune to the sun. His complete lack of empathy and his brutal treatment of both humans and demons highlight the darker side of the unhealthy ENTJ type, where personal goals overshadow everything else. Muzan’s need for perfection extends even to his subordinates, and his intolerance for failure drives him to punish anyone who falls short. Cold, calculating, and terrifyingly efficient, Muzan’s ENTJ nature makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Sabito – ISTJ

Sabito is an ISTJ

“Go further! If you’re a man. If you call yourself a man! There’s no way to go but forward!” – Sabito

Focused and determined, Sabito does whatever it takes to help Tanjiro hone his strengths as a demon slayer. Like his mentor Urokodaki, Sabito knows that tough love is often the way to lift people to their highest potential. While he might seem harsh and demeaning at the beginning of the series, when his mask is removed, his gentle smile reveals a softer, more sensitive side. In the manga you can see that he gave up his own life in order to save the other students from the hand demon. In what is common for ISTJs, Sabito doesn’t exude emotion, but his values nonetheless guide him.

Makomo – INFP

Makomo is an INFP

“There are other children besides us. They’re always watching you, Tanjiro.” – Makomo

Gentle and insightful, Makomo teaches Tanjiro how to correct his sword-fighting techniques as a demon slayer. Tanjiro quickly notices that Makomo tends to speak in an abstract and dreamy way, something INFPs are known for. Also like INFPs, she tends to be patient and unhurried, contrasting Sabito’s harsh, more impatient manner of teaching. Makomo’s devoted, empathetic nature and reserved, imaginative way of expressing herself make me think INFP is the right type for her. That said, she is only in the series and the manga briefly, so I’m having to type based off very limited information.

Tamayo – INFJ

Tamayo is an INFJ

“You still use…the term “person”…to refer to even a transformed demon. And you’re trying to save him. Allow me, then, to lend you a hand.” – Tamayo

Insightful and empathetic, Tamayo has the predictive capabilities that INFJs are famous for. She foresees very particular events coming to fruition, though I can’t say what they are because of spoilers. She knows how to wield her blood demon art to manipulate people into revealing their most tightly-locked secrets. Quiet and intellectual, she yearns to find a way to help humans and demons co-exist and find healing.  She even finds an unusual solution to needing blood to survive as a demon; buying blood from consenting donors in order to survive.

Yushiro – ISTJ

Yushiro is an ISTJ

“Let’s use those two as decoys and escape…..I’m just kidding!” – Yushiro

Serious and loyal, Yushiro will do whatever it takes to stay close to Tamayo and help her achieve her goals. He has a knack for taking in his surroundings and responding quickly, using mind control and sight manipulation to enact sneak attacks on his foes. Unfortunately, there isn’t a wealth of information on Yushiro in the mangas or the TV series, other than his steadfast love for Tamayo. Because of that, this typing of him is based on very limited information.

Shinobu Kocho – INTJ

Shinobu Kocho is an INTJ

“I once believed that the road of happiness continued forever and ever into the distance. When it was destroyed, I realized for the first time that it lies upon a thin sheet of glass.” – Shinobu Kocho

Shinobu was one of the hardest characters for me to type in this series. On the outside, she appears cheerful and empathic – always wearing a warm smile. But on the inside, she’s quite ruthless and calculating. As you watch the series (or read the manga especially) you realize that her cheerful exterior is a façade that she employs to be more like her sister who was murdered by demons. The real Shinobu is angry, strategic, and unforgiving. She’s absolutely driven by her inner vision, thinking big-picture and long-term about ways to dismantle demonic power in the world. She also knows how to put her personal feelings and the feelings of others aside when a tough decision has to be made.

Kyojuro Rengoku – ESTP

Kyojuro Rengoku is an ESTP

“Go ahead and live with your head held high. No matter how devastated you may be by your own weakness or uselessness, set your heart ablaze. Grit your teeth and look straight ahead.” – Kyojuro Rengoku

Charismatic and fierce, Kyojuro Rengoku knows how to stay in the moment, respond swiftly, and face a threat with courage. In childhood, his mother instilled the belief in him that the strong should protect the weak. Because of this, he will steel himself against any foe that puts weaker beings in danger. He longs to be acknowledged, to protect, and also to inspire his younger brother to carry on his legacy. To the end, Kyojuro fights to protect others. His valiant, swift, ever-ready nature are qualities that healthy ESTPs often emulate in daily life. For a while I thought Kyojuro could be an ENFJ, but he’s so tapped into the moment, quickly responsive to his surroundings, savoring all of life’s details, that I think ESTP fits much better.

Giyu Tomioka – ISTJ

Giyu Tomioka is an ISTJ

“Feel the rage. The powerful, pure rage of not being able to forgive will become your unswerving drive to take action!” – Giyu Tomioka

Giyu is driven by a strong sense of justice and practicality. He thinks quickly on his feet, showing zero hesitation when faced with terrifying, powerful demons. Like most ISTJs, he’s a man of very few words, his feelings coming through in his internal thoughts more than his external expressions. In his first encounter with Tanjiro and Nezuko, he appears insulting and harsh on the outside while his inner words are soft and empathetic. This is something that ISTJs often relate to; their inner worlds are often more emotionally rich and nuanced than their outside expressions reveal. When it comes to his decisions, Tomioka tries to stay practical and logical unless enough physical evidence reveals that he should step outside the rules (as evidenced when Nezuko protects her brother rather than devouring him).

Gyutaro – ISFP

Gyutaro is an ISFP

“We’re just returning all the pain and suffering people did to us and collecting what they owe us. We have to pay our past misfortunes to those who are fortunate, or we can’t break even. That’s how we lived our lives. And we killed every single person that had a single problem with that, man.” – Gyutaro

Abused and mistreated, Gyutaro’s childhood is one filled with tragedy and pain. While he later becomes a vicious demon, his motives are to balance the scales of the persecuted and the fortunate. Gyutaro is overwhelmed by the pain and anguish he’s experienced, consumed by his feelings of jealousy and envy (very much an Enneagram 4 in my opinion). His feelings drive him to seek vengeance on a world that has it better than he did. Instead of being driven by what the crowd thinks is right or wrong, he’s driven by his own heart. He can’t help but love imperfections, and he eventually took pride in his own ugliness, seeing it as a badge of honor rather than something to be ashamed of.

Nezuko Kamado – ISFJ

Nezuko Kamado is an ISFJ

“Humans are to be protected and saved…I will never hurt them.” – Nezuko Kamado

Gentle and caring, Nezuko has a habit of putting other people’s needs before her own. In typical ISFJ fashion, she seems to be practical – not wanting to spend too much money on herself so that her family can be provided for. To be fair, it’s difficult to type Nezuko as she nearly always has bamboo stuck in her mouth so her lines are limited. I’m going with ISFJ off of very limited information, and mostly from what Tanjiro recalls about her more than her own thoughts and perspectives. That said, just from a surface level, ISFJ seems like a good fit.

Kokushibo – INTJ

Kokushibo is an INTJ

“Be thankful for the blood…You are not allowed to spill even a single drop on the ground…for if you do…your torso and head shall have a sorrowful parting.” – Kokushibo

I’m inclined to lean towards INTJ for Kokushibo, but like many of the characters in this series, I’m having to type based off of very limited information. Reserved and serious, Kokushibo is an adamant rule-follower who respects the hierarchy of the Twelve Kizuki. While he’s outwardly reserved, he can also be harshly direct, not sparing others’ feelings and demanding total obedience. His inner feelings, as with most INTJs, are often mysterious and deeply hidden. Yet this doesn’t mean he doesn’t care, as he mourns the death of his brother even when his outer actions might seem to show hatred or jealousy.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki – INFJ

Kagaya Ubuyashiki is an INFJ

“I know what eternity is. Eternity is human feeling. Only human feelings are forever and are undying.” – Kagaya Ubuyashiki

Insightful and devoted, Kagaya emulates some of the very best qualities of the INFJ type. Like most INFJs, he has a unique ability to foresee how events will play out, predicting various events that later come to fruition. He also is incredibly tactful and soothing, being able to put other people at ease almost instantly. Yet even though he’s kind, he naturally receives respect from others due to his dedication, intellect, and reason. He seems to be deeply in touch with his Introverted Intuition, Extraverted Feeling, and Introverted Thinking sides – showcasing what an INFJ can bring to the world when they are balanced and healthy.

Mitsuri Kanroji – ESFJ

Mitsuri is an ESFJ

“My heart would never flutter for those who needlessly hurt others!”

Mitsuri, the Love Hashira, is your classic ESFJ: warm, empathetic, and fiercely protective. Her dominant Extraverted Feeling (Fe) makes her an emotional powerhouse, constantly expressing affection for her comrades and radiating a genuine care for everyone around her. Whether she’s excitedly embracing friends after battle or swooning over potential suitors, Mitsuri’s emotions are always on full display. Yet beneath her childlike excitement lies a warrior who won’t hesitate to unleash fury on any demon threatening the people she loves. Like a true ESFJ, she thrives on connection and harmony, but she’s no pushover. Her devotion to the Demon Slayer Corps and her desire to be of use reflect her sense of duty, while her heartfelt desire for love keeps her grounded in her values.

Muichiro Tokito – INTP

Muichiro is an INTP

“If you used your head just a little, you would understand.”

Muichiro’s head may be in the clouds most of the time, but his sharp, logical mind places him squarely in the INTP camp. Known as the Mist Hashira, Muichiro operates on logic and impassivity, rarely letting emotions guide his actions. His Introverted Thinking (Ti) is constantly processing the world through detached analysis, which can make him seem distant or even arrogant. But beneath the cool exterior lies a deep well of intellectual curiosity and a commitment to his role as a Hashira. Despite his aloof nature, Muichiro is devoted to protecting others, and his transformation from an indifferent, air-headed boy into a more compassionate individual shows the complexity of his inner world. Like many INTPs, he’s a mix of deep intellect and unexpected warmth, particularly when reconnecting with his past and his core values.

Akaza – ESFP

Akaza is an ESFP

“What a wonderful fighting spirit… You have so many wounds, yet your drive, your fortitude, and your stance have no opening.”

Akaza, ever the battle-loving demon, perfectly captures the thrill-seeking nature of an ESFP. His Se-dominant personality makes him all about the present moment, savoring every fight as if it’s a dance, drawn to strength and action like a moth to a flame. But Akaza’s story isn’t just about surface-level excitement. His desire to preserve the talent of others, even offering strong warriors the chance to become demons, shows an appreciation for beauty and skill in its purest form. Like many ESFPs, Akaza is deeply driven by his personal experiences and values. Beneath his violent exterior lies a tragic figure, shaped by the loss of his loved ones and driven by a desire to be strong enough to protect those he cares about. Even in his darkest moments, his need for authenticity, connection, and strength remains palpable.

Douma – ENFJ

Douma is an ENFJ

“So admirable!! You’ve tried so hard! I’m impressed!! Such a weak girl doing so much! You don’t have your older sister’s talent, but you’ve done well as a demon hunter!”

Douma’s charming, manipulative nature makes him an eerie embodiment of the dark side of an ENFJ. Outwardly, he’s friendly and charismatic, always showering his opponents with compliments—even while devouring them. His Extraverted Feeling (Fe) allows him to quickly read others’ emotions, and he uses this skill to manipulate and charm those around him, convincing his followers that he’s “saving” them by consuming them. Beneath the surface, however, Douma is a psychopath who doesn’t actually feel anything. His calm, carefree demeanor hides a deep apathy, and despite his charm, he’s completely devoid of genuine emotional connections. His cold calculations and ability to rally others to his cause are classic ENFJ traits, but twisted into something far more sinister.

Obanai Iguro – ISTJ

Obanai Iguro is an ISTJ

“How should we make him take responsibility?”

Obanai embodies the no-nonsense, rule-abiding nature of the ISTJ personality. He holds strict expectations for his fellow Demon Slayers and has little patience for those who don’t meet his standards. His sense of duty and loyalty to the Demon Slayer Corps is unwavering, sometimes to the detriment of others. Like many ISTJs, he believes in order, structure, and responsibility above all else, often berating others for their perceived weaknesses, like when he scolds Tengen for wanting to retire.

But beneath his stern, stoic exterior, there’s a more tender, hidden side—especially when it comes to Mitsuri Kanroji. His deep care for her contrasts sharply with his otherwise harsh demeanor. It’s through this connection that we see his sentimental and self-critical side, as he feels unworthy of Mitsuri’s affection, believing that he needs to die and “cleanse” himself of his tainted past. Obanai’s deep-seated sense of honor and duty, paired with his ability to mask his emotions, aligns with the ISTJ’s reserved, serious nature.

Tengen Uzui – ESTP

Tengen Uzui is an ESTP

“Starting now, things are going to get real flashy!”

Tengen Uzui is the ultimate embodiment of an ESTP—a bold, flashy, and action-oriented personality. He’s always the life of the party, thriving on excitement and chaos, and never hesitating to make things as “flamboyant” as possible. His need for constant stimulation and challenge drives him to push others to their limits, whether it’s dragging his wives on dangerous missions or berating Demon Slayers during Hashira Training. ESTPs love to take action and live in the moment, and Tengen is no exception.

While Tengen may seem brash and over-the-top, he also has a caring side that shows through in his relationships with those closest to him. His affection for his three wives, as well as his loyalty to the Demon Slayer Corps, reveals that beneath the bravado, there’s genuine care. His protective nature—especially when his loved ones are in danger—shows the ESTP’s drive to defend what they care about, even if they do it with flair and confidence.

Kanao Tsuyuri – ISFJ

Kanao Tsuyuri is an ISFJ

“Somehow I feel the people I care for and those important to me will still be alive tomorrow. But that’s just my hope, and there’s no way I can promise that with any certainty.”

Kanao’s quiet, reserved demeanor hides the strength and emotional depth that define many ISFJs. Her upbringing, marked by severe trauma, led her to repress her emotions and become detached, only able to make decisions with the flip of a coin. Like most ISFJs, she has a deep sense of compassion and care for others, as seen in her loyalty to Shinobu and Kanae Kocho. Despite her emotional barriers, Kanao’s true compassion shines through in her determination to protect others, even if she struggles to express it outwardly.

Sanemi Shinazugawa – ESTP

Sanemi Shinazugawa is an ESTP

“Well, well, I see you have some fun brewing here.”

Sanemi is the quintessential ESTP—bold, brash, and always ready for action. His aggressive, hot-headed nature comes through in his combat style and interactions with others. He doesn’t sugarcoat his words, and his quick temper often leads to impulsive outbursts. Like many ESTPs, Sanemi thrives in the moment and seeks to take on challenges head-on, sometimes without thinking through the long-term consequences.

Sanemi’s harsh, abrasive demeanor is a result of the trauma he’s experienced, especially the loss of his loved ones. Beneath the tough exterior, he still harbors a deep love for his brother, Genya, though he struggles to express it outwardly. His quick reactions and practical approach to fighting demons make him an invaluable member of the Demon Slayer Corps, but his emotional turmoil, combined with his tendency to act first and think later, showcases the duality of the ESTP personality.

Jigoro Kuwajima – ESTJ

Jigoro Kuwajima is an ESTJ

“It’s alright to cry or go off by yourself. Just don’t ever give up. Believe in yourself. You endured all that hellish training. You’ll be rewarded for that without question. Work to forge yourself like a tempered blade…and become the most resilient of all! Focus on what you do best!” – Jigoro Kuwajima

Strict but devoted, Jigoro Kuwajima is the tough-love teacher that shows Zenitsu what he’s capable of.  Like most ESTJs, Kuwajima believes that skills are learned through repetition and determination; fighting through the pain and discomfort to become masterful. Kuwajima’s tough personality yet simultaneous devotion and loyalty are often hallmarks of the ESTJ personality type. He’s practical, focused, and commanding – pushing his students hard, but caring for them deeply at the same time.

Susamaru – ESTP

Susamaru is an ESTP

“How should we kill them, I wonder? Vindictively, of course!” – Susamaru

I can’t type too many of the demons because their personality characteristics are too shrouded by their demonic nature. That said, Susamaru is more than just a bloodthirsty demon. Both before and after her transition to demon, she was thrilled by excitement, action, and fun. She thirsts for a challenge, and even before becoming a demon was a skilled handball player. Beneath her vicious demon exterior is a young girl who simply wants to have fun and test her abilities. ESTPs, as Se-dominant types, are drawn to challenges, immersion with the environment, and physical activity that lets them respond to surprise incoming stimuli (like a punch being suddenly thrown out of nowhere). ESTPs also have tertiary Extraverted Feeling which enables them to have a certain charm and charisma, an ability to “read” people and sense where they’re at emotionally. Susamaru seems to have all these qualities, even though she’s a demon.

Ume “Daki” – ESFP

Ume "Daki" is an ESFP

“No matter how many times I might be reborn, I’ll always be your little sister!”

Daki craves attention and validation, using her beauty and power to dominate those around her. Like many ESFPs, she thrives on sensory pleasures and has a dramatic flair, which shows up in her manipulative, sometimes flirtatious interactions with others. Daki is all about living in the moment, enjoying the power and luxury that comes with her position as a demon in the Entertainment District.

Despite her vain and spoiled exterior, Daki’s fierce loyalty to her brother Gyutaro reveals a deeper, more emotional side. She may throw tantrums and lash out when things don’t go her way, but her bond with her brother is unshakable. Even after death, her love for him is her guiding force. This emotional attachment, paired with her tendency to act impulsively based on her feelings, showcase the ESFP’s heart-driven approach to life.

Hinatsuru Uzui – INFJ

Hinatsuru Uzui is an INFJ

“After we beat this demon, let’s retire from the corps… and just live like normal people.”

While Hinatsura may not be as flashy or bold as her co-wives, she serves as the emotional anchor for Tengen, offering calm wisdom and support when it’s needed most. Her ability to see the bigger picture and focus on the future aligns with the INFJ’s natural visionary tendencies. She’s always thinking ahead, ensuring that her loved ones can live a life of peace and fulfillment once their battles are over.

While Hinatsuru is gentle and understanding, she’s also willing to fight fiercely for what she believes in. Her compassion and empathy drive her actions, but her strategic mind ensures that she approaches problems thoughtfully and with a sense of purpose.

Rui – ISTJ

Rui is an ISTJ

“Long ago, I heard a wonderful story. There was once a father who died trying to save his drowning child. I was deeply moved. Such astounding parental love.”

Rui, as an unhealthy ISTJ, attaches himself to rules, structure, and hierarchies. His desire for a perfect, obedient family is central to his being, and he harshly punishes those who do not meet his exacting standards. Like many ISTJs, Rui values loyalty and order above all else, and he becomes enraged when these expectations are not met. His interactions with his “family” show a rigid, rule-based approach to relationships, prioritizing his vision of family roles over genuine emotional connection.

Rui’s backstory reveals a deep sensitivity and longing for connection, which is common among ISTJs who may struggle to express their emotions directly. Despite his cruelty, Rui is haunted by the lack of real familial love in his life, and his tragic end highlights the ISTJ’s tendency to hide emotional vulnerability behind a mask of duty and pragmatism.

Gyomei Himejima – ISFJ

Gyomei Himejima is an ISFJ

“The feeling of punching a living thing was like hell. I can never forget my disgust.”

Gyomei is the epitome of the “gentle giant,” embodying the kindness, dedication, and quiet strength characteristic of ISFJs. Despite his imposing physical presence, Gyomei is soft-spoken, deeply sensitive, and devoted to the protection of life. While Gyomei can be intimidating on the battlefield, his heart is filled with compassion, and he easily tears up over the simplest acts of kindness.

Gyokko – ESFP

Gyokko is an ESFP

“You’re just too poor and uncultured to understand my beauty, refinement, and elegance.”

Gyokko is a textbook ESFP with a disturbing twist. Like many ESFPs, he thrives on sensory experiences and excitement—only, in his case, it manifests as a grotesque obsession with “art.” He revels in creating gruesome, morbid masterpieces, which he views as beautiful, and delights in showing off his creations. Like a typical ESFP, Gyokko lives in the moment and chases after what brings him pleasure, whether it’s creating a twisted art piece or earning praise from Muzan.

Despite his creativity, Gyokko is also shallow and vain, becoming furious when others don’t appreciate his work. His arrogance and short temper come through when he’s mocked by Muichiro, showing how easily his confidence can be shaken when someone challenges his sense of artistic superiority.

Aoi Kanzaki – ESTJ

Aoi Kanzaki is an ESTJ

“So you’re my partner? Then let’s move. I just want to get this job done and forget that you ever existed.”

Aoi embodies the no-nonsense, efficient nature of an ESTJ. She’s practical, direct, and takes her responsibilities seriously, whether it’s managing the Butterfly Mansion or disciplining those under her supervision. Aoi’s tough-love approach is classic ESTJ, as she doesn’t sugarcoat her words and demands that others meet her high standards. Her efficient, get-things-done attitude makes her a reliable, albeit strict, member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

Beneath her stern exterior, though, Aoi is kind-hearted and deeply caring. Like many ESTJs, she struggles to show her softer side but genuinely cares about the wellbeing of others. Her insecurities about not being an active Demon Slayer reveal the internal pressures ESTJs often place on themselves to perform well and meet expectations.

Kotetsu – ESTJ

Kotetsu is an ESTJ

“I’ll say it again so listen up! You’re lacking in the basic fundamentals.”

Kotetsu, like Aoi, demonstrates the commanding and direct nature of an ESTJ. Even though he’s young, he has no difficulty taking charge and giving orders. He’s frank, blunt, and often hard on others, pushing them to meet his high expectations. Kotetsu’s take-charge attitude, combined with his impatience for mistakes, is typical of an ESTJ.

Though he can be hot-headed and harsh, Kotetsu’s bluntness stems from his deep commitment to doing things the right way. Despite his occasional temper, Kotetsu has a big heart and genuinely wants to help those around him, though he might not always express it softly.

Senjuro Rengoku – ISFJ

Senjuro Rengoku is an ISFJ

“I’m sure that my brother will forgive me.”

Senjuro is the quiet, caring sibling who embodies the soft-spoken strength of the ISFJ personality type. Like his older brother Kyojuro, Senjuro is deeply loyal to his family and holds a strong sense of duty, even if he feels unworthy of following in his brother’s footsteps. He’s kind-hearted and compassionate, always finding the good in others, and trying to care and support in practical ways.

Hotaru Haganezuka – ISTP

Hotaru Haganezuka is an ISTP

“Come on, hurry up and draw it!”

Hotaru embodies the fiery, hands-on nature of an ISTP. His passion for sword-making drives him to obsess over every detail. Like many ISTPs, Hotaru is deeply focused on his craft, often to the exclusion of everything else. Though Hotaru is socially awkward and prone to outbursts, his passion for his work is undeniable. He’s not one for small talk or emotional displays, but his dedication to crafting perfect swords for the Demon Slayer Corps helps him channel his love of hands-on creation and aesthetic elegance.

Makio Uzui – ESTP

Makio Uzui is an ESTP

“It wasn’t always like this. I wasn’t afraid to die.”

Makio is a fiery, confident ESTP who thrives in action and loves a good challenge. Bold and outspoken, she’s not one to hold back her opinions, especially when dealing with her co-wives or on a mission. Like many ESTPs, Makio is practical and quick-thinking, making her a strong fighter and a reliable member of Tengen’s team. She’s headstrong, confident, and always ready to take on whatever comes her way.

Yuichiro Tokito – ISTJ

Yuichiro Tokito is an ISTJ

“What could you do?! You can’t even boil rice by yourself!”

Yuichiro’s critical, no-nonsense attitude is a reflection of the ISTJ’s practical, grounded nature. He’s skeptical of idealism and tends to take a more cynical view of the world, particularly after the loss of his parents. Like many ISTJs, Yuichiro believes in preparing for the worst and struggles to see the value in selfless acts that he deems unrealistic. His cold demeanor toward his brother Muichiro stems from his fear of losing him, and he tries to shield Muichiro from harm by discouraging his altruism.

Though he’s harsh and blunt, Yuichiro harbors a deep love for his brother, even if he struggles to express it. His protective instincts, combined with his belief in practical survival, show the ISTJ’s tendency to prioritize responsibility over emotional expression.

Goto – ISTJ

Goto is an ISTJ

As someone who prefers to stay in the background and get things done, Goto is often the voice of reason and sarcastic commentary within the Demon Slayer Corps. His observations about the eccentricities of others, delivered with a dry sense of humor, offer some comic relief from the grueling and emotionally intense world of demon slaying. Like many ISTJs, Goto prefers order, authority, and structure and is quick to call out anything that disrupts that.
