Here’s the Show to Binge Watch, Based On Your Myers-Briggs® Type

Do you ever find yourself scrolling through Netflix or Amazon Prime with no idea which show to select? Narrowing down your options can feel overwhelming when there are so many choices to choose from. You have limited time and you don’t want to waste it on something dull or uninspiring! With that in mind, I surveyed my readers this week to find out which TV shows were the favorites of each personality type! Initially, I focused on Netflix, but as I surveyed more and more people, I realized that there were favorite series across many channels including Disney Plus and HBO Max. Now I’ve got a good idea which series you should stream the next time you find yourself with a couple of hours of free time on your hands!

Here’s the Show to Stream, Based On Your Personality Type

The ENFP – The Good Place

Follow antihero Eleanor Shellstrop as she surprisingly finds herself in heaven after a bizarre, untimely death. Surprised that she made it to heaven after a life of self-serving, unethical choices, Eleanor finds that all is not what it seems in “The Good Place.” With the help of three unlikely friends, she discovers that it’s never too late to change her ways and become a better person – even in the afterlife.

Why ENFPs Love It: ENFPs mentioned that they enjoy light-hearted, character-driven shows that spark their imagination without being too heavy and overwhelming. “The Good Place” is playful and humorous while also asking some surprisingly profound questions at the same time.

The ENTP – Community

Former lawyer Jeff Winger attends a community college after it’s discovered that he faked his Bachelor’s degree. Along the way, he befriends an unlikely group of misfits who open his eyes to new ways of understanding the world. Community is an inventive, free-wheeling parody of nearly all pop culture references and sitcoms.

Why ENTPs Love It: Community brilliantly pokes fun at other sitcoms and movies with its random, innovative comedy themes. This show knows how to make fun of anything, including itself, while shining a light on how people can be broken but still good. ENTPs loved this aspect, and on top of that, the show’s main protagonist, Jeff Winger, is an ENTP!

The INFP – The Haunting of Hill House

It might seem strange to have a horror series as the top choice for INFPs, but when you actually take the time to watch Hill House it’s easy to understand why. This show is more profound than it is terrifying, dealing with issues like grief, betrayal, and vulnerability in surprisingly empathetic ways. Flashing between past and present, this story follows a family as it confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them away from it.

Why INFPs Love It: Haunting of Hill House is both beautiful and dark, a contrast that tends to draw INFPs in. INFPs are aware that there can be no joy without sadness, no beauty without pain. They see colors and contradictions in emotions that many other types tend to be blind to. They’ll appreciate the emotionally profound nature of this show as well as the symbolic, meaningful details spread throughout it.

The INTP – Mr. Robot

INTJs and INTPs alike highly recommended Mr. Robot and also argued whether or not the protagonist, Elliot, was an INTP or an INTJ (it led to some lively debates!). Either way, INTPs voted for this series far more than INTJs did!

Mr. Robot follows the life of Elliot, a brilliant but troubled young cyber-security engineer who finds himself in a life-threatening game of global dominance when he and his mysterious allies try to take down the corrupt corporation he works for.

Why INTPs Love It: Not only is Elliot relatable to many INTPs, the story itself is full of twists and turns that will keep the analytical mind of the INTP guessing and piecing together clues.  It also has incredible character development that doesn’t seem formulaic or cliché.

The ENFJ – Demon Slayer

After finding his family slaughtered by demons and his young sister transformed into a demon, Tanjiro Kamado begins a quest to find a way to turn demons back into humans. Throughout his journey he faces many terrifying foes and must brave life-threatening challenges to become a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

Why ENFJs Love It: Tanjiro Kamado, the protagonist of Demon Slayer, is an ENFJ himself. ENFJs will find him highly relatable and will also appreciate the quirky relationships that he forms along his journey. Demon Slayer doesn’t shy away from harsh realities and tackles painful topics like grief and forgiveness with empathy and beauty. Every action sequence in Demon Slayer is brimming with emotion, intensity, and conviction.

The ENTJ – House of Cards

Follow the life of Frank Underwood, a Democrat from South Carolina and the House Majority Whip, who will stop at nothing to ruthlessly climb the political ladder and exact revenge on the people who have betrayed him. This dark political drama takes you on a journey through the underworld of politics and gives a look at the greed and corruption that takes place.

Why ENTJs Love It: Not only are the Underwoods quintessential NTJs, House of Cards is also a slick, absorbing drama that is filled with unexpected twists, turns, and strategies. There’s enough going on to keep an ENTJ’s busy mind fixated and intrigued.

The INFJ – The OA

This was by far the most highly recommended series by INFJs. The OA follows a blind young woman (Prairie) who has vanished from her home for seven years and returns with her eyesight restored. Prairie is mysterious and aloof, leaving people unsure of whether she’s a miracle or a monster.

Why INFJs Love It: The OA is dark, mystical, and imaginative, blending genres between science fiction and drama. This series moves at a slow, contemplative pace which gives INFJs a lot of time and space to ponder where it’s going and try to piece together the clues. It manages to keep viewers on the edge of their seats by relying entirely on story and character development rather than flashy CGI or snarky one-liners. Many INFJs (and INFPs) relate to Prairie Johnson, and many typologists have typed her as an INFJ.

The INTJ – Black Mirror

This sci-fi anthology series invites you into a plethora of future dystopias and experience them while learning about how they came to exist. Each episode is a stand-alone drama that taps into the collective anxiety we all have about the modern world and how quickly it’s changing.

Why INTJs Love It: Black Mirror is a Ni-paradise because it focuses on current technological and social trends and how they could radically change the future. It’s all about trajectories, patterns, and long-term consequences – all things that INTJs ponder on a regular basis. Although the mood of this series is bleak, INTJs will appreciate how much the show gives them to analyze and consider.

The ESFP – Gilmore Girls

This series got the most votes from ESFPs, but Orange is the New Black came in a very close second with only two less votes!

Gilmore Girls follows quirky single mom Lorelei Gilmore and her serious, no-nonsense daughter, Rory, as they navigate relationships, friendships, and growing up. The two live in an idyllic Connecticut town filled with a mixture of artists, dreamers, and everyday people. As Lorelei and Rory deal with the ups and downs of life they encounter both comedic and profound moments that viewers can share with them.

Why ESFPs Love It: ESFPs love the humor and emotional richness of Gilmore Girls. While at first it may seem like your typical rom-com, as you continue watching you really feel like you’ve befriended the individuals of Stars Hollow. Most of the ESFPs I spoke with talked about re-watching Gilmore Girls at least once a year, particularly during the autumn months when they were feeling more nostalgic.

The ESTP – The Last Kingdom

This historical drama focuses on Uhtred, a warrior who as a child witnessed his father and the Saxon army being killed by invading Danes. Taken under the wing of a Danish warlord Earl Ragnar, Uhtred learns to appreciate the Danish ways of life and understand their customs. Eventually, Uhtred becomes a powerful warrior, but no matter what happens, he must walk a dangerous path between the people of his birth country and the people who raised him

Why ESTPs Love It: The Last Kingdom is filled with action, intrigue, and suspense. Uhtred is definitely an Extraverted Sensing dominant type, so ESTPs will likely find him relatable. The action sequences are gratifying and beautifully filmed and there’s a good dose of humor and drama thrown in to keep it interesting without being disjointed.

The ISFP – Game of Thrones

Based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling series, Game of Thrones follows the stories of nine powerful families as they battle for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. At the same time, an ancient enemy returns after being dormant for millennia.

Why ISFPs Love It: Two notable ISFPs are represented in Game of Thrones (Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow) and the series has an epic, sweeping tone that ISFPs love. The rich characters, the strategies, the battles between good and evil, all of these things are fascinating and absorbing to ISFPs.

The ISTP – The Witcher

The Witcher Geralt, a mysterious monster hunter, journeys towards his destiny in a chaotic world where people are often more evil than the beasts he hunts down.

Why ISTPs Love It: ISTPS enjoy a series that has elements of action, suspense, and drama without being pretentious, ridiculous, or sappy. The Witcher delivers on all counts while also giving ISTPs a relatable protagonist in Geralt (who is likely an ISTP as well). The quick pace, visual artistry, and rich storytelling in this series make it a thrilling escapist piece of entertainment.

The ESFJ – This Is Us

This Is Us follows a unique set of triplets across several decades as they struggle through parenthood, careers, adoption, and identity issues.

Why ESFJs Love It: ESFJs are fascinated by relationships and this series gives them an intimate look at the varied and rich relationships of the Pearson family. It’s relatable and heart-warming, making you feel like you know the characters inside and out.

The ESTJ – Castle

Castle is a comedy-drama series that focuses on a celebrated mystery novelist, Rick Castle, as he teams with the NYPD to solve the case of a copycat killer who re-creates murder scenes from his novels. Castle and no-nonsense, hard-working detective Kate Beckett, solve a series of strange homicides all while building a strong yet complicated relationship.

Why ESTJs Love It: According to the ESTJs I spoke with, the reason for Castle’s appeal was that it was, simply, fun. This series has an element of comedy without being too ridiculous or slapstick, and it has an element of intrigue with the mysteries and behind-the-scenes crime work that takes placae. When ESTJs watch shows they typically said they were looking to relax and have a good time. Castle has action, romance, comedy, mystery, and drama all mixed together without feeling chaotic or overwhelming.

The ISFJ – WandaVision

This quirky, endearing miniseries follows Wanda Maximoff and Vision as they attempt to settle into an idyllic suburban landscape. At first, everything seems pleasant and predictable, but over time they begin to suspect that nothing is as it seems.

Why ISFJs Love It: When ISFJs look for a good show, they want something of an escape from everyday life. Fascinating relationships, humor, and stunning visuals all entice ISFJs and WandaVision delivers on all three counts.  There’s also an element of mystery that keeps viewers wanting to find out more.

This contemporary take on Sherlock Holmes offers a fresh, modern perspective on the infamous detective from Baker Street. In this series, Dr. John Watson has just returned from Afghanistan and teams up with eccentric Holmes, who works as a consultant for Scotland Yard. Together they face a series of bizarre crimes while forming a strong yet quirky friendship along the way.

Why ISTJs Love It: Sherlock ties together themes of mystery, drama, and comedy in a way that never feels forced or contrived. ISTJs loved the chemistry between Watson and Holmes and found the direct, analytical nature of Sherlock relatable and refreshing.
