16 TV Shows You’ll Love as an ISFJ

As an ISFJ, your brain runs on a powerful mix of nostalgia and deep empathy. You want heartwarming stories. You want relatable characters. You want shows that celebrate kindness, goodness, and the beauty of a meaningful relationship. You want to watch people show up for each other.

Finding a show that actually feels good to watch is tough right now. Television is obsessed with the dark, the edgy, and the deeply cynical. Every main character is a morally gray antihero. I see this in my psychology practice constantly. Just last Tuesday, an ISFJ client sighed and said, “I just want to watch decent people be nice to each other without anyone getting murdered in a dark forest. Is that too much to ask?” It really is not. You spend your entire day taking care of other people. When you sit down on the couch, you want television to take care of you.

16 TV Shows ISFJs Absolutely Love

To save you from the anxiety of another bleak, joyless drama, I gathered this list. These sixteen shows come highly recommended by your fellow ISFJs. They offer the comfort, the laughs, and the pure, unironic heart you need to recharge your batteries.

16 TV Shows You’ll Love as an ISFJ

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother is an ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: A father tells his captive children the incredibly long, winding story of how he met their mother in New York City.

Why ISFJs love it: You love a tight-knit friend group. This show is all about loyalty, inside jokes, and the comfort of sitting in the exact same booth at the exact same bar every single night. You will appreciate the deep romanticism mixed with goofy humor. Yes, the characters mess up, but they always forgive each other. It feels like hanging out with old friends who never judge you.

The Great British Bake-Off

Great British Bake-Off ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: Amateur bakers gather in a tent in the English countryside to bake cakes, breads, and pastries while being exceedingly polite to one another.

Why ISFJs love it: Most of the ISFJs I spoke to said they didn’t really like reality TV, but they made an exception for this show. The Great British Bake-Off is visual therapy. There is zero cynicism here. When someone drops a cake, three other competitors rush over to help them fix it. It can’t get much better than the friendly warmth and detailed competence on display here. You will sit happily watching nice people bake scones while birds chirp in the background. It is a warm hug in television form.

The Office

The Office is a favorite INTP and ISFJ TV show

The Gist: A documentary crew films the mundane, highly awkward daily lives of employees at a mid-level paper company in Scranton.

Why ISFJs love it: You have a talent for finding the profound in the ordinary. This show takes the most boring setting possible and turns it into a masterclass on human connection. Yes, the characters are flawed (extremely flawed), but there’s heart here, even in the chaos. Moments where the tumultuous Michael Scott honors Pam’s artwork, where Jim overcomes his fear to express his true feelings, and imperfect co-workers throw a funeral for a bird in the parking lot to comfort Michael’s feelings of grief.

Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey is an ideal ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: The aristocratic Crawley family and their large staff of servants navigate life, love, and historical changes in a grand English estate.

Why ISFJs love it: Tradition, duty, and gorgeous historical details. Your brain catalogs small details perfectly, so you will fully appreciate the costumes, the table settings, and the interpersonal dynamics. The show honors hard work and loyalty, especially among the downstairs staff. My ISFJ friend loves this show for all the beauty and elegance, but also the strained and often dryly witty conversations that are had around the dinner table.

Derry Girls

Derry Girls is an ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: Four chaotic Catholic schoolgirls and one bewildered English boy try to survive their teenage years during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Why ISFJs love it: Behind the loud, fast-paced humor beats a heart of pure gold. You will love how fiercely these kids protect each other. The family dynamics are messy, loud, and incredibly real. Derry Girls captures how a tight community relies on humor to survive hard times. You will laugh out loud at the absurdity and cry at the quiet moments of deep, unspoken love.

Crash Landing On You

Crash Landing On You is an ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: A wealthy South Korean heiress accidentally paraglides into North Korea and falls in love with the stoic army officer trying to hide her.

Why ISFJs love it: This is pure, unadulterated romance. You love a story where people make massive sacrifices for the ones they love. Beyond the main couple, you will fall completely in love with the supporting cast of soldiers and village women. It highlights the beauty of found family and community care in the most unexpected places.

FRIENDS

FRIENDS is an ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: Six twenty-somethings drink huge cups of coffee, date the wrong people, and figure out life in 1990s Manhattan.

Why ISFJs love it: It is the ultimate comfort watch. You know exactly what is going to happen, and that predictability soothes your nervous system. You love Monica’s desperate need to host and feed everyone. You understand Ross’s nostalgia. FRIENDS gives you a safe, cozy world where every problem gets solved in twenty-two minutes, and nobody ever truly leaves each other behind.

The Crown

The Crown is an ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: A dramatic retelling of Queen Elizabeth II’s life, focusing on the heavy personal sacrifices required to lead the British monarchy.

Why ISFJs love it: You understand the weight of responsibility better than anyone. You will deeply empathize with a woman who constantly pushes down her own desires for the sake of her family and her country. The show treats history with deep respect, something you also need when watching a historical drama.

The Andy Griffith Show

The Andy Griffith Show is an ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: A widowed sheriff raises his young son and gently manages the quirky, harmless criminals of a small, wholesome town.

Why ISFJs love it: This is pure nostalgia. It represents a world where people actually look out for their neighbors. You will appreciate Sheriff Taylor’s calm, empathetic approach to dealing with community chaos. Nobody is actually bad; they just need a little guidance. It is slow, gentle storytelling that reminds you of a time when life felt a lot simpler and people were just kinder.

Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls is an ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: A fast-talking, fiercely independent mother and her brilliant daughter navigate life and endless cups of coffee in a quirky Connecticut town.

Why ISFJs love it: Stars Hollow is your dream town. You love the town meetings, the weird local festivals, and the fact that everyone knows everyone else’s business but still fiercely protects them. The deep bond between Lorelai and Rory (who I think is an ISFJ) warms your heart and I the perfect antidote to a dreary day. It is a cozy, dialogue-heavy show that makes you feel safe and completely at home.

New Girl

New Girl is an ISFJ TV Show

The Gist: An endlessly optimistic, slightly weird teacher moves into a loft with three male roommates after a terrible breakup.

Why ISFJs love it: It is a masterclass in found family. You will love watching these completely different people learn how to support each other unconditionally. When someone gets sad, the others rally to fix it. The slow-burn romance between Nick and Jess is also deeply satisfying. It proves that you can be weird, loud, and totally lost, and still be completely worthy of love.

Modern Family

Modern Family is an ISFJ TV show

The Gist: A large, blended, wildly different extended family deals with the hilarious, messy realities of raising kids and loving each other.

Why ISFJs love it: Modern Family is chaos wrapped in unconditional love. You will relate to characters like Claire and Mitchell, who just want everything to be organized and perfect. Even when the family drives each other completely crazy, they always drop everything to show up for school plays, birthdays, and emergencies. It validates your belief that family is messy, but it is always worth the effort.

Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso is an ISFJ TV show

The Gist: An incredibly optimistic American football coach moves to England to manage a struggling soccer team, armed only with biscuits and kindness.

Why ISFJs love it: Ted (an ESFJ) weaponizes kindness, and you respect that completely. He cares more about helping people grow into good humans than he does about winning games. You will cry happy tears watching him break down the tough, cynical walls of the people around him. It is a beautiful reminder that pure empathy can actually change the world.

Bridgerton

Bridgerton is an ISFJ TV show

The Gist: Aristocratic siblings navigate the high-stakes, incredibly gossipy marriage market of Regency-era London looking for true love.

Why ISFJs love it: It combines stunning aesthetics with a rock-solid guarantee of a happy ending. You love the focus on family loyalty and the strict, fascinating societal rules they have to follow. You get all the drama of a soap opera without any of the anxiety, because you know true love will win. It is pure, sugary escapism.

Lost is an ISFJ TV show

The Gist: The survivors of a horrific plane crash try to stay alive, build a society, and uncover the secrets of a deeply strange island.

Why ISFJs love it: While others watch for the weird mysteries, you watch for the community. You relate heavily to characters like Jack and Sun, who step up to heal people, organize the camp, and create a sense of order in total chaos. Lost explores how humans build connections when stripped of everything else. You will get incredibly attached to the survival of this flawed, beautiful group.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an ISFJ TV show

The Gist: A teenage girl chosen by fate fights vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness while also trying to pass her high school classes.

Why ISFJs love it: You love the “Scooby Gang.” Buffy cannot save the world alone; she relies entirely on a deeply loyal group of friends. You understand the heavy burden of duty she carries. The show treats the friendships with as much importance as the monster fights. Watching normal people step up to do extraordinary things to protect their town will hit every single one of your sweet spots.

  1. As an ISFJ myself, I´d add some crime investigation TV Series like CSI, Criminal Minds, Cold Case, Rizzoli & Isles… These are some of my favorite ones.

  2. The only two shows I agreed with were:
    Friends and The Crown.
I’m very into crime dramas, mysteries, and some science fiction/superhero.

  3. There are a lot of great series in the article like Downtown Abbey, Bridgerton, etc. I just watched “Crash landing on you” and I absolutely loved it. I’m definitely going to rewatch it in the future (maybe several times over the next years 😉 ). 💚
